2021 Awards Finalists Judges Feedback
The final stage in our Awards process for the two finalists in each category is a 30 minute interview with our Judging Panels. This year, the majority of the interviews took place on Zoom with the exception of Entrepreneur, Young Entrepreneur and High Growth which were hosted by our Chairman, Gordon White in the fatBuzz offices in Glasgow.
The interviews give the Judges the opportunity to find out more about the finalists and their businesses and always leave them inspired. We are proud of our commitment to a stringent and fair judging process, no-one wins a WeDO Award by booking a table which has led to our Awards being highly respected in the Scottish business community.
Here’s what the Judges had to say after from the interviews …
“A real treat to meet some inspiring people and to hear about their journeys so far; it was a quick day and some hard decisions had to be taken.”
“An inspirational day, listening to the stories of business owners across different sectors doing wonderful and very different things.”
“Thoroughly enjoyable day listening to a diverse range of business owners and entrepreneurs who gave us some tough decisions to make.”
“An exciting and exhilarating day meeting our entrepreneurial finalists – the future looks good!”
“I feel privileged to have met all the finalists and get a glimpse into what motivates them, their leadership, drive and the story of how they have built successful businesses. As a judge and as a business owner I can see the value for anyone entering the WeDO awards. The process gives the business owners a chance to reflect on their businesses and reflect on why they have done so well. It’s like having a free business coach!”
“What an inspirational experience! Very different businesses, all doing great things in their fields. It was so difficult to pick a winner – they’re all winners!”
“The WeDO awards judging process has given me a fascinating insight into successful businesses in a variety of sectors. The stand outs for me were the clear drive to lead innovation in their sectors and an absolute focus on creating an environment where the team can flourish.”
“Taking part in the judging of the WeDO Awards has really opened my eyes even more as to the wealth of talent that we have across Scotland. The work that is being done needs to be highlighted and I believe that the WeDO awards can certainly do that! What an inspiring experience!”
“I was once again taken aback at how exciting the Scottish business community is with their innovation, resilience and entrepreneurial attitude. I have spent this afternoon listening to the finalists of Best Use of Technology, Scottish Product and New Start Business and come away inspired by what they have achieved and their plans for the future. With such a high calibre of finalists, it was not an easy decision to choose a winner. I look forward to seeing all the WeDO Scotland finalists at the awards dinner on 5th November.
Remember, remember, the 5th of November when WeDO Scotland celebrates the winners and its members.”
“An enlightening afternoon interviewing the inspirational entrepreneurs in the short-list categories for the Scottish Product of the Year, Best Use of Tech and Best New Start Awards. A very diverse range of products and businesses that have achieved great success to date but have significant growth opportunities in the future. We look forward to celebrating all of them on Friday 5 November.”
“I have been so impressed by the achievements of our nominees in the categories of Scottish Product, Best Use of Tech and New Start Business awards. The energy and determination of the individuals involved is truly inspiring, and it’s been an absolute privilege to be on the judging panel and to have had the opportunity to see under the hood of so many different exciting companies.
