Dave Young – Winner of our Lifetime Achievement Award 2013
Our inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award was presented last week at our conference. ?The Judging Panel was once again chaired by?Graham Langley?of?GL Capital?& Ambassador in our Executive team and he was joined by 3 fellow Ambassadors from our Exec team, ?Gaynor Turner?of?Macintyres,??Jim Rae?of?Elevate, Chairman of WeDO Scotland and?Jack Ogston, Non-Executive Advisor at?Maven Capital Partners,?Davidson Chalmers LLP?and?Kingdom Taverns.
The Lifetime Achievement Award is in recognition of a Scottish entrepreneur who has made a considerable and lasting contribution to the entrepreneurial community in Scotland over a period of at least 15 years. This Award is the only WeDO Scotland Award that can be awarded to both members and non-members.
We are delighted that the very worthy winner of the Award is?Dave Young, co-founder of?Larosco,?a software development company specialising in disruptive online marketing technologies using other people’s social networks to reach a more diverse, receptive and passive audience.
Dave is without doubt one of Scotland’s most successful entrepreneurs having sold a number of businesses and his innovative and inspiring approach to business impressed our judging panel. ?His contribution to the Scottish business community is outstanding not to mention his talent and expertise in software development.
Very sadly, Dave was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease 5 years ago and was unable to attend the conference to collect his Award. ?His wife and business partner Laura Sullivan accepted the Award on his behalf and we were delighted that Dave was able to produce the video below with his acceptance speech. ?Having only had a few hours to produce the video, it is testament to Dave’s talent that he produced such an amazing film.
Dave is eternally grateful for the support he receives from?Motor Neurone Disease Scotland?without whose help his life would be considerably more difficult than it currently is. ?You can make a donation to MND Scotland by clicking?HERE?or alternatively, if you have anything you would like to donate that could be included in their charity auctions, please email?[email protected]
