Free digital support for Scottish SMEs from the Scottish Government

Digital transformation is an essential tool for many businesses, enabling cost reductions costs through systems, processes and automations, whilst increasing turnover through optimised digital assets.

The Digital Productivity Lab is a brand new initiative fully-funded by the Scottish Government, designed to give businesses up to 21 hours of 1:1 digital support at no cost.

Businesses receive dedicated consulting from experienced Digital Specialists to help in the areas you actually need help in. The aim of the program is to help accelerate businesses digital adoption and progression to help reduce costs and increase revenues.

Here’s the eligibility summary:

  • Applicant organisations must be registered and/or operating from within Scotland.
  • Charities, social enterprises and third sector organisations can also apply.
  • Must be trading a minimum of 6 months. (Applicant business must have been receiving sales income for at least 6 months).
  • Applicants must be over the age of 18.
  • Applicants must be a UK resident with the right to work in the UK.
  • Businesses must meet the European* definition of an SME in relation to employees, balance sheet and turnover.
  • All Industry sectors are eligible for consideration

Once you have completed and submitted your Digital Assessment, the Digital Productivity Lab Team will contact you within 10 working days to discuss the next steps.

The process is as follows:

The process is in 4 stages:

1.) Verification – verify your email address and contact information, reset your password and complete the verification to access the online Digital Assessment.

2.) Digital Assessment – log into the online Digital Productivity Lab to access the Digital Assessment and submit your response. This will determine the digital maturity of your business and your future plans.

3.) Digital Specialist – meeting will be set up with a Digital Specialist to discuss your Digital Assessment responses, an Action Plan will be created to identify the support needs that optimises technological opportunities for your business.

4.) Commit to and work through your bespoke digital support action plan.
