‘IT TAKES A PANDEMIC TO DISRUPT HEALTHCARE’

Martin Sinclair is Consultant Upper GI Surgeon at Top Doctors and at The Ipswich Hospital NHS Trust and we’re delighted to be welcoming him as guest speaker at our third In The Trenches event.  Our thanks to Martin for kindly giving up his time when he is exceptionally busy for obvious reasons.

Martin has experience of managing teams within the complex healthcare environment and will be reflecting on the challenges and opportunities that have come with the current coronavirus pandemic.  This will be a fascinating insight into a sector which to many of us is something of a mystery.

Healthcare is a complex system with necessary safety and bureaucratic controls which can:

  • Slow down progress
  • Prevent innovation
  • Frustrate ideas people
  • Delay adoption of new evidence
  • Lack of common goal

Coronavirus has disrupted healthcare:

  • Common purpose
  • Staff energised
  • Teamwork and engagement
  • New technology adoption
  • Rapid progress
  • Importance of people
