THE ACCIDENTAL CEO … TWICE!
Craig Mackay will share some of his journey to becoming CEO of a £11m revenue consulting and software business. Not that any of it was planned, or that Craig would consider a success yet. Was it resiliency, relentless belief, blind ignorance or accidental luck…the jury is still out but there were plenty of lessons learned, especially on not worrying too much about definitive plans.
After a potted career of nearly 20 years delivering and consulting on transformational change programmes, Craig took over as Chief Product Officer for Sharktower back in 2016. This was initially part of a small boutique data consultancy that grew rapidly before being acquired by Accenture.
During this period Craig built out the first software and product teams to transform what was an initial MVP built by founders into an enterprise ready SaaS platform, which provides businesses with a data-driven and transparent platform for managing and track all types of change outcomes across the business.
Then, with the change in the business, Craig took the opportunity to buyout the Sharktower assets and launch as a stand along business with his co-founder Lynsey – starting on 24th February 2020 and immediately shutting the office three weeks later due to the emerging pandemic.
Luckily the business somehow managed to navigate the impact of Covid, despite facing no business development in first nine months and a challenging investment landscape. A difficult, but eventually positive 2021, resulted in a recent acquisition and merger with a change management specialist consultancy company, Proteus, that concluded at the end of February 2022. Craig was subsequently appointed to CEO of in March to oversee the future vision of the combined businesses, and the challenge of growing from a £11M annual turnover to +£30M over the next few years.
Craig is a highly entertaining speaker and this evening will be a fascinating insight into his highs and lows, challenges and how he has managed change. There will, as always, be ample opportunity to network, ask questions and participate in thought-provoking conversations with your fellow members.

ABOUT SUPPER CLUBS
Our Member Supper Clubs are participative, relaxing evenings enjoying good conversations, enabling members to get to know one another whilst hearing from inspirational speaker. In Edinburgh, they are held in the private dining room of the 6th floor 1820 Rooftop Bar at the Johnnie Walker Princes Street with breathtaking views of the city and access to the outdoor roof terrace.
Places are strictly limited to 12 people with 10 tickets available for members on a first come first served basis. By keeping these events intimate, we ensure there are plenty of opportunity to ask questions as well as an open forum where all attendees will have the opportunity to discuss the emerging themes from the speaker as well as their own experiences. Shared experiences are at the heart of WeDO, ‘individually we can be successful, together we can be extraordinary’ and Supper Clubs give us the opportunity to do just that!
