June LinkedIn Networking Breakfast
22 June 2022
8:30 am - 10:00 am
Our Networking Breakfasts launched in Edinburgh in February 2022 and have proved to be a key monthly event in the Scottish business calendar. Due to the success of, and high attendance levels at the Edinburgh breakfasts, we are delighted to launch these events in Glasgow, with the first one taking place on Wednesday 22nd June.
The Breakfasts are open events where both members of WeDO and non-members are welcome. Offering a fantastic opportunity to spend a full hour networking, we alternate between an entrepreneurial speaker who will share their journey (including challenges faced – no rose tinted glasses overviews!) and topic based, where the speaker will share their expertise and tips on a specific subject.
Unlike many networking events, there is a full hour dedicated to networking, maximising the opportunities to grow your network in a relaxed and informal environment. Places are limited to 50 to enable effective networking and are allocated on a first come first served basis. Please note that tickets must be booked in advance and will not be available on the door.
For our inaugural Glasgow breakfast, we’re delighted to be welcoming Gordon White, Managing Director of fatBuzz and WeDO Scotland Chairman. Gordon will be sharing his knowledge and expertise on LinkedIn. Those who have attended Gordon’s LinkedIn training courses are often surprised that, having thought they knew all the functionalities available on the platform, Gordon always has something new to share.
“We’ve all had our fill of online meetings where we sit and listen to a speaker as they present endless slides. We can meet again and see each other face-to-face, so let’s make the most of it.
So, the LinkedIn Networking Breakfast will not be a slide show. I will not be showing you the basics of LinkedIn; I figure you already know all that. Instead, I’d like to talk you through how to get the most from LinkedIn, the way to sell yourself and your business, and how to make yourself the go-to person in your industry. I’ll also talk about making good quality connections and provide you with a couple of success stories to give you some inspiration.
But, the benefit of these sessions is to be able to ask your questions. So, I will talk briefly; then, I’m happy to answer your questions and hopefully help with any challenges you’re having on LinkedIn.
It would help to get some questions in advance, so please email [email protected] if there is anything you would specifically like to know. But, don’t worry if you can’t think of anything right now, I’ll do my best to answer them on the day.”
THE SPEAKER
Gordon has been running his own marketing agency since 1986 and has had the privilege of working in most market sectors for organisations throughout the United Kingdom. The initial business provided design and marketing services then, moving with the times, web design, E-commerce, and digital marketing.
In June 2010, he merged Design Matters, and what started as a podcast production business, Podcastmatters, into one marketing agency, fatBuzz Ltd. An exciting exercise indeed – dropping a 24-year-old business name and rebranding as fatBuzz.
Gordon and his team at fatBuzz simplify digital marketing and make it as easy as possible for businesses to adopt a sustainable digital strategy. He advises on content creation, brand journalism, influence marketing, email marketing, customers service, Facebook Advertising and lead generation. He has also been a brand owner with John Letters of Scotland, then the oldest golf club manufacturing business globally. The experience provided an entirely different business perspective: buying materials in China, lines of credit, shipping, manufacturing, international exhibitions, and valuable and memorable experiences such as visiting Bentonville and dealing with retail giants, Walmart.
Gordon simplifies marketing and makes it as easy as possible to adopt and implement a sustainable digital strategy. He offers advice about content creation, brand journalism, influence marketing, email marketing, tone-of-voice, company culture, employee engagement, customers service, employee advocacy and business development.
He regularly present marketing topics to audiences from 10 – 500 (much preferring the 500!) and enjoys sharing knowledge about the power of marketing and how to use it effectively in business. His presentations aim to help people understand the options – he doesn’t use technical jargon or acronyms, he prefers to use real-life examples and a touch of humour!
For 10 years until the start of the pandemic, Gordon delivered New Media Breakfasts monthly in Glasgow & Edinburgh. Widely respected as the ‘go to’ marketing events for the SME business community, they attract regular monthly audiences of 150+ attendees.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Anyone with an interest in business who is looking for an enjoyable networking event! Unlike many speaker events, there is a full hour allocated to networking which has been missed by so many during the pandemic.
