Networking Breakfast
20 March 2025
8:30 am - 10:00 am
OPEN TO MEMBERS AND NON-MEMBERS
Our Networking Breakfasts are popular events which give attendees the opportunity for high quality networking for a full hour, as well as hear an inspiring entrepreneurial journey or from a relevant topic expert. Welcoming, beneficial, fun and outstanding networking opportunities is how guests describe our Breakfasts which take place monthly in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
Belinda Roberts MBE, CEO of WeDO will be chatting to our youngest member and entrepreneur extraordinaire Maxwell McKay of HeyIT who has more entrepreneurial spirit than many people more than twice his age! Not many of us can say we started our first business at the age of 15, nor to then grow it to a team of 12.
ABOUT MAXWELL
Maxwell McKay is the founder of HeyIT, where he and his team go beyond traditional tech support to provide proactive IT solutions that secure businesses, streamline operations, and enable sustainable growth. With offices in Edinburgh, Manchester, and London, it delivers everything from advanced productivity suites to cyber compliance—plus optional ISO 27001 and DORA support—to help SMEs focus on what truly matters: running and scaling their businesses. He graduated from Aberdeen University in June 2024 with an MA in Business Management.
Maxwell’s entrepreneurial journey began at at the tender age of 15, when he launched Pixel Crunch, an internet and media start-up that grew to a 12-person team. Looking back, he recalls interviewing potential team members, many of whom were twice his age and their incredulity when they met him and saw how young he was!
“Those early experiences taught me the power of vision, determination, and technology in bringing ideas to life. Later, at Cisco, I learned how a global company operates with remarkable efficiency, using digital tools to support remote collaboration around the world.”
In March 2021, whilst in his 1st year of studying at Aberdeen University, Maxwell founded G1gbyte – a Managed Service Provider that quickly expanded to a dedicated office in Aberdeen. Building on that success, he evolved the business into HeyIT to deliver a complete, strategic IT services company that empowers SMEs to thrive in an ever-changing digital landscape.
Additionally (in his non-existent spare time!) at the age of 16, Maxwell co-organised the first Charity Fashion for SAMH show with Amy Gadhia and the following year, he took the venture on his own for a second show. That year they raised just over £4,000 for Scotland’s Association for Mental Health. The design team used clothes from sustainable sources only (charity shops and second-hand stores) and it ran for two years at Edinburgh City Chambers.
Anyone with an interest in business who is looking for an enjoyable networking event! Unlike many networking events, there is a full hour allocated to networking.
