We co-host the monthly Edinburgh New Media Breakfasts with our partners fatBuzz, winners of our 2013 High Growth Company of the Year Award. The New Media Breakfasts are open to both MEMBERS and NON-MEMBERS of WeDO and are for entrepreneurs, business owners, start-ups, marketing professionals and decision-makers in the private sector as well as individuals working in the public and third sectors. They provide up-to-date information about social media and how the adoption of a digital approach can transform your business or organisation. The Edinburgh events take place in Tigerlily at 125 George Street in Edinburgh and repeat in Glasgow the following day.
The New Media Breakfast events are strongly focused on why to rather than how to and are designed to allow you to make more informed choices about introducing a digital culture and social media participation. At each breakfast, there is a presentation on a specific topic followed by a question and answer session. There is plenty of time, both before and after the presentation for networking and to find out what others are doing with social media in their businesses and organisations.
In the past the New Media Breakfast topics have included subjects such as;
- Facebook for Business
- Social Media and the Bottom Line
- Video for Business
- Google Analytics and Pay-Per-Click Advertising
- Social Media in the Workplace
- LinkedIn and Brand You
THURSDAY 31st AUGUST 2017 7:45AM – 9:30AM
SPEAKER: Gordon White of fatBuzz
Video is one of the most effective and powerful forms of communication, and everyone has it literally within their grasp to embrace video and make it work effectively for them. It is easier than ever to capture, edit and publish compelling content and to get it in front of relevant audiences.
It’s a long time since YouTube were the only players in town; Facebook openly admits, and promotes, that video content gets preference in news feeds and, in our own experience, video achieves better results when using Facebook Advertising. LinkedIn are also encouraging greater use of video content withing personal profiles, LinkedIn Articles and in status updates.
Twitter is also pushing along with its Periscope live streaming service and will continue to improve what is already a powerful and effective tool. Instagram is also focusing on video, so it’s not hard to see why this medium plays an essential part of the marketing toolkit.
Of course, YouTube continues to be a major player, but other platforms like Vimeo are also important considerations, and doubtless there will be new players with niche services that also need to be considered.
The August New Media Breakfast will look at what’s happening with video, in particular the type of video that is easily accessible to everyone. We will take a look at what’s new and provide examples of how simple video content can produce powerful and compelling results.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
If you would like some ideas about how video can get your message out to your audience & better engage with them, you should definitely attend this event!
