Our Supper Clubs are one of our most popular events and always sell out every month.  They’re informal, relaxed evenings and are the perfect mix of inspiration, good food and great conversations.  They give members the best opportunity to get to know their fellow members, meeting those they’ve not met and catching up with those they do. This month, we’re delighted to be welcoming Richard Simpson joint Managing Director of renowned global brand agency Tayburn.  Richard is also a member of the WeDO Executive Team.  A highly engaging speaker, Richard will be sharing with us his journey from employee to participating in a management buyout to become co-owner and joint Managing Director in 2015.  He’ll also be discussing the challenges he’s faced running a business and his thoughts on marketing in 2023.

ABOUT RICHARD

Richard joined Tayburn in 2008 as Head of Business Development before becoming Marketing Director 18 months later.  He is accountable for Tayburn’s sustainable profitable growth and is passionate about creating a remarkable environment for their people to do remarkable work for their clients.  

“There can be a tendency for brands, especially in tech, to focus on product features and benefits in pursuit of the most effective product/market fit however, if every brand in the category talks about itself in this way not only is there little in the way of differentiation for the customer, there is a lack of emotional connection established. And it’s emotional connections between brands and their customers that can provide the rocket fuel for growth.”

Richard is also an Investor and Advisor at Riixo® – creators of the worlds first sport and injury recovery cuff.

He is a passionate advocate of balancing mindset and sport, he took up Crossfit training in 2016 which he believes has transformed not just his fitness but also the benefits it brings to his mindset in business.  He is a Coach and affiliate owner of Go Train East Rocks which runs a wide variety of fitness training sessions, including Crossfit, in East Lothian – and always outdoors regardless of the weather.
