When did you start your business & what prompted you to do it?
Started Claymore Security Solutions 2011, I have been involved in security for a long time and get a huge buzz from it.
What did you find most challenging at the beginning?
Everything! Learning from mistakes, being let down by people and creating business in the Middle East.
Who did you ask for advice & why did you choose them?
Lots of people, and I still ask and will probably never stop asking, mostly people that have been in a similar position starting a business.
How did you fund your business?
Savings and most of the earnings were put back into the business.
What would you do differently now looking back?
Think twice about the people I brought into the business in the early stage.
What or who has helped you to grow your business the most?
My Wife Susanna, she never lets me get down and encourages me every day.
What have been the biggest challenges you’ve faced?
My maritime business is all in the Middle East and Asia, moving equipment is a logistical nightmare. Time zone, working with three different ones can give you a 20 hour day, language barrier, and contract negotiation.
What are the future plans for your business?
Expand a bit more and have a good reputation as an exclusive land and maritime security provider.
What advice would you give to anyone wanting to set up their own business?
Do it, be prepared for long days and sleepless nights, get your head down and work hard and your rewards will come.? Set yourself goals and stick to them. Before every move think to yourself ?what could possibly go wrong? and welcome to the world?s biggest roller coaster!

I was part of the cast on the Military Tattoo in 1986!
