What was your first job after leaving school/further education?
Royal Bank of Scotland.
When did you start your business & what prompted you to do it
2014 – I wanted to use my experience to support Scottish SME’s raise finance when the Bank says ‘no’.
What did you find most challenging at the beginning?
I was on my own!
Who did you ask for advice & why did you choose them?
I used my trusted network. They were all very supportive.
How did you fund your business?
Fortunately I didn’t need a lot of funding and I was lucky enough to self fund.
What would you do differently now looking back?
Not being so trusting of support from so called friendly competitors.
What or who has helped you to grow your business the most?
My trusted and long standing network.
What have been the biggest challenges you’ve faced?
Trying to encourage the public sector to do things differently.
What are the future plans for your business?
Ensuring Scottish SMEs get the same funding opportunities as English SMEs.
What advice would you give to anyone wanting to set up their own business?
Don’t hold back. Be bold.
