An Evening of Movies and Musicals at Christmas will take place at the Usher Hall on November 24. ?The show, which has sold out venues around the UK, will see household names backed by a 65-piece orchestra playing famous theme music and signature tunes from movies and musicals.
Concert-goers can expect to hear some of John Williams? famous scores including those from E-T, Jurassic Park and Indiana Jones, while a big community choir will also give a memorable performance.
And fittingly for a show billed as ?a special night out for all the family?, a percentage of the tickets sales will be donated to WeDO Scotland?s nominated charity, Aberlour.
The stellar cast includes Ruthie Henshall, whose extensive career has seen her performing lead roles in Cats, Miss Saigon, Les Miserables, Oliver! and Chicago, among others, not to mention a TV career which included a stint as a judge on Dancing On Ice.
She will be joined by the talented John Owen Jones, who is perhaps best known for his starring roles as Jean Valjean in Les Miserables and the Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera.?
Scotland?s own Keith Jack will also make an appearance ? a national star who shot to fame as runner-up on the BBC1 show Any Dream Will Do. Since then, he has enjoyed a rich theatrical career which has included several reprisals of the lead role in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.
Keith, who is currently performing as Joseph in Perth said: ?I am really looking forward to performing at the Usher Hall this November.
?I know that the concert is going to be a great night and singing alongside two of the biggest names from London?s West End is a real treat.
?Having performed in a similar concert in Cardiff this year, the chance to sing with a 65-piece orchestra and 180 strong choir again will be breath-taking.”
Classical artist Fiona Kelly will also bring something special to the occasion. Based in Aberdeen, her pure soprano voice has already seen her performing to the Royal Family at Balmoral, as well as in supporting roles for Katherine Jenkins and Keith Jack.
Music on the night will be performed by the Edinburgh Youth Orchestra while the Gorgie-based MGA Academy will be leading a 180-strong kids choir.
Aberlour Fundraising Manager Marie-Claire Jones: ?We are delighted to be receiving a percentage of all the proceeds from tickets sales at this wonderful event which is the perfect way to mark the beginning of the festive season in Scotland.
?It?s fabulous that families will not only be able to enjoy some top entertainment from world-class performers, but they will also be making a difference to vulnerable children in Scotland this Christmas.
A limited number of VIP tickets are also available. ?Priced ?60 each, this includes a pre-concert reception and post-concert meet and greet with the cast.
