We’re delighted to announce the launch of the WeDO Scotland COVID-19 Scottish SME Awards today. The Awards will recognise SMEs who have made the biggest impact during the pandemic.
Since lockdown was announced on March 23, we have hosted 32 online events to support our members facing the challenges of COVID-19. A wide variety of topics have been covered drawing on the advice and knowledge of industry experts, as well as speakers such as Simon Cotton, CEO of Johnstons of Elgin and Gordon Dewar, CEO of Edinburgh Airport, who shared their experiences of dealing with challenges faced in light of Coronavirus.
Our founder, Belinda Roberts, commented:
“We have watched the Scottish business community rise to the unparalleled challenges faced in light of COVID-19 with huge admiration. In the true spirit of acknowledging the efforts, innovation and sheer determination shown by so many SMEs in Scotland, we wanted to create specific COVID-19 Awards to applaud and celebrate the successes of those businesses which have turned the most difficult of times into opportunities.
Their efforts deserve to be recognised, and will not only help to bolster the Scottish economy going forward, but will also provide inspiration to both current and future generations throughout the country. This is a great opportunity for the Scottish SME community to come together at an uplifting online event, regardless of geographical location.”

The awards are free to enter for Scottish SMEs across the length and breadth of the country. They will be voted for by the public, with the top 3 in each category being judged by the WeDO Executive teams and Awards sponsors. The winners will be announced at the online Awards Ceremony on 9th July where they will hear from an outstanding line-up of speakers to be announced shortly. The winners will be awarded a year’s free membership of WeDO Scotland, a trophy and a digital badge.
