WINNER: Dougie Walker of Claymore Security Solutions & Claymore Afghanistan
“I am still incredibly shocked and humbled to have been awarded Entrepreneur of The Year. Claymore has experienced good growth and success in the past year and this award is great recognition of that. From a small idea I had only a few years ago to being an award winner is extraordinary. I look forward to 2014 with drive and excitement. I would like to thank WeDO for giving me this opportunity and for all their support.”

We have gone from strength to strength since we commenced trading in 2012 and our team of 8 thoroughly enjoy making recruitment and job hunting rewarding. It’s a privilege to be part of WeDo Scotland and get the opportunity to meet and share ideas with its talented members.”

HIGH GROWTH COMPANY OF THE YEAR
WINNER: Gordon White of fatBuzz
“I was delighted to accept the award for ‘High Growth Company of the Year’ on behalf of all the team at fatBuzz, it is a timely reminder for us of what we have already achieved and how our commitment to growth is paying rewards. We’d also like to thank all of our clients because with out them there would be no growth. It was a fantastic night at the Sheraton and particularly pleasing to have won an award in the presence of so many great companies, the quality of the businesses associated with WeDO Scotland makes the award all the more rewarding.”
RUNNER-UP: Stefan Pretty of Pretty Klicks
MOST INNOVATIVE BUSINESS
WINNER: Pete Higgins of UWI Technology
“We are delighted to have won the WeDO Scotland Award for Most Innovative Business. With so many innovative companies in Scotland, it is fantastic recognition for all the hard work the team here have put in especially over the last year to make the UWI Label the truly innovative product it is today. The reassuringly simple label continues to make waves in several sectors from Food and Drink to Aerospace and Life Sciences as it reduces unnecessary wastage, saving money for all concerned. A real win-win story. As we embark on our next round of investment for commercialisation and expanding our dedicated team, this award is a great reminder to potential investors looking to be part of UWI of how a simple, but innovative idea can have such huge impact on so many sectors on a global scale.”
RUNNER-UP: Laura Sullivan of Bongomagic
NEW START BUSINESS OF THE YEAR
WINNER: Ailsa Proverbs of The Big Cheesemaking Kit
“I was so thrilled that The Big Cheese Making Kit won the New Start Business of the Year Award. We have been in business for just over a year and I have been utterly overwhelmed by the response to the Kits, selling 500% more than our original forecast! It was a real honour to be recognised in this way especially as the other finalists were of such a high standard. Here’s hoping 2014 is just as successful.”
