From Edinburgh University Footlights to the West End and Broadway, Colin Ingram has built a career bringing ambitious ideas to life on some of the world’s most prestigious stages. An Olivier Award-winning producer with more than 30 years’ experience, his career combines creative vision with the entrepreneurial commercial realities of producing major international shows.

Colin is the lead producer of Back to the Future: The Musical, which won Best New Musical at the 2022 Olivier Awards, alongside Best New Musical at the WhatsOnStage Awards and Best Theatre Show at the London Lifestyle Awards. Having brought the much-loved film to the West End, he took the production to Broadway’s Winter Garden Theatre for an 18-month run. Its international expansion has included a North American tour and productions in Japan, Australia and Germany, as well as a production aboard Royal Caribbean’s Star of the Seas.

His global reach also includes Ghost the Musical, which he produced in Manchester, the West End and on Broadway before its international success saw it staged in 22 countries and 14 languages across more than 30 productions. From South Korea and China to Brazil, Germany and Australia, the show has reached audiences across continents. It won Best Musical at the Manchester Theatre Awards and received five Olivier and three Tony nominations.

As Executive Producer of Billy Elliot the Musical in the West End, Colin helped bring to the stage a production that won four Olivier Awards, including Best New Musical. He subsequently consulted on its Australian and Broadway productions, with the Broadway show winning 10 Tony Awards, including Best Musical. He also lead-produced Breakfast at Tiffany’s on Broadway, twice in the West End and on a UK tour, with productions starring Emilia Clarke, Anna Friel and Pixie Lott. His other producing credits include Grease and The Time Traveller’s Wife.

Before establishing his independent producing business, Colin worked with Cameron Mackintosh, served as UK Managing Director of Disney Theatrical Productions and became Executive Producer at the Old Vic. In New York, his role at Madison Square Garden Entertainment included producing the Radio City Rockettes’ New York Spectacular and Christmas Spectacular. His Scottish connections include founding Edinburgh University Footlights and serving as an Executive Director of the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo.
