Michael’s journey is a masterclass in modern entrepreneurship. From launching an independent hospitality concept to building a much-loved, multi-site brand with a fiercely loyal following, he’s navigated rapid growth, intense competition, rising costs, people challenges and the realities of scaling in Scotland’s demanding hospitality landscape.

He has over 30 years experience in the industry having worked for DRG, G1 (Scotsman Group) and Lynnet Leisure managing venues such as DiMaggio’s, Tiger Tiger, The Corinthian Club, One Up and 29.   Michael left his career to launch his first Glasgow venue amongst the challenges of the credit crunch in 2008.

2016 saw the launch of Buck’s Bar, a rock ‘n’ roll bar famous for its authentic fried chicken, wings and  high energy atmosphere.  The group now has six Buck’s Bar locations across Glasgow, Edinburgh and St Andrews. The portfolio also includes Thundercat Pub + Diner and ThunderDog Pub + Diner in Glasgow.  This year Buck’s Bar Group was the proud winner of Best Independent Multiple Operator at the Scottish Bar and Pub Awards.

A vocal and passionate advocate for hospitality, Michael frequently speaks out on sector challenges, from COVID restrictions to business rates and policies affecting the industry and has built a loyal and engaged following
